CAD Microphones

CAD was debuting a number of new microphones,
all of which could be demoed over headphones. The impressive new lineup
included the Trion 8000, 7000, and 6000. More info:
http://www.cadmics.com/

The Trion 8000 is a multi pattern Tube Mic.
The 7000 is a dual element ribbon and the 6000 is a multi pattern condenser.
Naturally, all 3 mics picked up the din of the convention center quite
faithfully, but listing to my voice on top of that, I was amazed by the huge
difference between all three. The Trion 7000, being a ribbon mic, was warm
and natural sounding. The 6000 had a clean sound with lots of highs, yet
no stridency. I hope to get a chance to hear them again,
particularly the ribbon mic.
