2006 Report

Drums

There was plenty for drummers to do at the show.  In addition to the ""World's Fastest Drummer" Contest, held out on the lobby, there were plenty of drummer's that took a turn on the big kit displays of the show, which always drew a crowd.  Next time my band needs a drummer, Namm is the place to be!

SONOR

Sonor was showing off its reknown SQ2 system

Factory Metal Percussion

As I love cymbals, I was drawn to the booth by a small company called Factory Metal Percussion, who were displaying their hand crafted effects cymbals.  These look a little like propeller blades, and are sure to bring attention to any drummer.

The sounds of these were quite shattering and often exotic.  They can be stacked right on top of one another to dramatize the effect.  The names of their cymbals are just as captivating, such as the Celtic Bell, Gothic Radius, Cross Benderz, Cross Crasherz, and FX Shrapnel. You can add Hi-Hat Jinglers (very worldly sounding) and sizzlers to many.  Best thing of all, the prices are reasonable, and quite cost-effective in terms of the attention they might deliver in return.  There is more info and some sound samples at www.FactoryMetalPercussion.com

Time to go back to the keyboards.
